Stayed here two nights after a sailing trip, during Carnival. Rooms were spacious, including the bathroom (could use more hooks to dry clothes). Three pools; helpful, friendly staff; beautiful view of harbor; guests can take the tour for free. At top of 99 Steps (take only during the day). Price was high during season, but on shoulder season, was reasonable.... more

One of the best parts of my recent Caribbean cruise with Royal Caribbean was the Blackbeard's Castle and shopping excursion. I did this tour on March 15, 2008. When I disembarked the Adventure of the Seas, a man was waiting that gathered everyone that signed up for this excursion. Once everyone had arrived, he handed us off to our first... more

There were many secluded areas to get away and the... more

The mini-tower is the only historic portion of the compound. The rest of the "castle" includes 3 or 4 pools, an outdoor bar/lounge and several well-perserved historic houses which you can... more

I am a Pirate re-enactor, and I love all Pirate history. When I had the opportunity to sail the Islands aboard a Royal Caribbean ship, my head spun with all of the piratey possibilities. One of my destinations, touted on several websites and in my shore excursions book, was Blackbeard's Castle. I pictured an attraction along the same lines as... more
