Just got back from St. John Virgin Island and while there we toured the Coral Bay area on horseback thanks to the Carolina Corral. Dana was a fabulous hostess who picked out just the right horses for our abilities. I, being a non rider, got a very gentle and well mannered horse, my kids both got even more well behaved... More

The horses were fine. (Other reviewers either had an off day or probably can't ride.) The trail itself was not fun. You either are on the side of the road or going up and down (the same) very steep hill. Maybe 30 feet on the beach. The view at the top was lovely though. The owner, Dana, was very nice,... More

We are avid horse riders, so riding on St John seemed like a necessity for our trip. It was, overall, a good experience and we're happy we did it. We rode nice horses and saw a couple of truly exceptional views of the virgin islands. The "trail" however was either along a paved road or up/down a very steep, rocky... More

We visited Carolina Corral in October 2011, we were early, Dana, our guide was already there getting the horses ready. Did it smell? Absolutely! Like goats, sheep, chickens and horses like you would expect any farm to smell like. We had time to meet some of Danas rescues, some goats and sheep she had helped out along the way. The... More

Yes, the first impression of The Carolina Corral is that it could use a face lift. The buildings are a bit rough, and the aroma is that of live animals, living. There is a loo for humans, a shady place to sit down, and most importantly - healthy animals who would otherwise have met their end very badly. I was... More

That is to say- these are not well trained horses. The owner and guide, Dana, described the horse I was riding as having "an attitude problem" before asking who would like to ride her. I reluctantly agreed to ride "Princess" because no one else volunteered and I have some riding experience. Princess repayed me at the end of the ride... More

The only good part of the trip was at the top of the hill, very nice view. More

I find it hard to believe this was the worst riding experience these folks have ever experienced when all the horses were well behaved with no mishaps. I'd be curious what their real complaint was? Maybe it was not enough time spent on narrower trails. Part of my afternoon ride was washed out in the heavy rains in the fall.... More

We were greeted by Dana when we arrived. It did take some time until we were off to get all the horses situated, but not a big deal- I'm on vacation. I hadn't riden a horse in years and that's the only thing I HAD to do in St. John. The conditions at the farm weren't ideal- but it's a... More

I'm glad for the response of this rider. I do have a laid back atmosphere at the corral with everday sunsine greeting me lighting up the entire yard. True I needed to improve on my departure times. By cleaning up and feeding the horses earlier I've been able to get them saddled and under way earlier. Due to the high... More

I agree with the other poster. When we arrived, my husband and I we waited about 30 minutes to get on our horses. Everything went according to plan with my husband and the other two (father and daughter). With my horse, "Princess" gave me a fuss about riding and began to act up. The owner procedes to punch and kick... More

I had recently obtained "Princess" from a native family who only fed her by moving her from one grassy spot to another. She had been trained to be riden but was devoid of manners of any kind. She wouldn't even stand to be brushed and in the beginning try to kick me mostly out of fear of being handled. When... More

We were there yesterday, 7/15/2010, and couldn't have been more disappointed. We were dropped off by taxi to find nobody there, only some poor abused horses in disgusting conditions and a smell to knock you out. We have much riding experience and we know that these stalls had not been cleaned in months. The horses were standing ankle deep in... More

Wow, this review looks to have been written by a worst enemy. Obviosly they didn't have an appointment, highly reccomended as I have a small number of horses and more intimate rides than most stables. The price can seem a shock too but so does $65 for a bale of hay. The comment about the stalls is an out right... More
