We visited Trunk Bay in October of 2007 while on our honeymoon. We stayed on St. Thomas and so we had to catch the ferry over to St. John. We were given great advice by the staff at our hotel-visit Trunk Bay on a day when the cruise ships AREN'T in port to avoid the crowds. The drive from the... more

I had a great experience on Trunk Bay. Was there in the end of May so the prices were reasonable for stying in St Thomas but the beaches there were small and commercial. Not much to do for sightseeing. St Johns was about 45 minute boat ride and was much cleaner, bigger beaches, and better snorkeling. It was way cool.... more

Trunk Bay is a picturesque ideal for Caribbean perfection. There is nothing quite like the pristine, protected beaches of St. John to remind you that Heaven on Earth does in fact exist. This is the ultimate backdrop to the iconic Honeymoon-style destination pictures you crave, and the fantastical fulfillment of your wildest beach luxury vision. Although some may argue otherwise... more

Went to St John for 5 days in mid April and visited many of the beaches on the island. All are great, some better for snorkeling, some have less crowds(not trunk). Trunk is picture perfect, has many amenities(snorkeling and chair rentals, food, bathroom, gift shop, etc etc). Trunk gets a little crowded mid day(especially if cruise ships are in St Thomas...they come over and... more

I had to laugh reading some of the reviews about the "crowds." I think the reviewers have probably never experienced the beaches of Maine or Cape Cod during the summer months. The "crowds" I experienced at Trunk Bay couldn't hold a candle to the crowds at the Cape during summer...and that's with sharing the beach some days with snorkeling groups... more

Don't miss Snuba on Trunk Bay. Expert guide is terrific (and very patient). My 70+-year-old parents did it and can't quit talking about it. Trunk Bay changed them forever! more

My family came over on the ferry from St Thomas for the day. St John was very laid back. We took a cab to Trunk Bay. You had to pay a minimal state park fee...but the showers were great... There was a store where you could rent snorkeling equipment and chairs. The water was calm and crystal clear. It was... more

Before you get to Trunk Bay, make sure you take a look over the mountainside to see it below. Exceptional! When I was here, it was hurricane season, with no ships in port. How quiet and relaxing! The water was calm, the beach and sand were beautiful. Although we did not partake in snorkeling, there were stingrays and lots of... more
