To get to the sandy beach for entry into the water you must walk 20 minutes on a heavily mosquitoe invested trail by the water. It is beautiful, but you better be a nature lover to make this trek. We were told that this was the best snorkeling in the USVI, but we were disappointed with what we saw. You have to hike to the beach between one half and one mile from a small parking log along the road. Its not a difficult hike, but bring some water and good shoes. Turtles, starfish, clear water, nice beach, nice people, not a long walk, not crowded, easy snorkelling for staters and more challengeing for advanced people on the far side of Waterlemon Key, a definite must!! Contrary to one review, it is NOT a 45 minute hike, more like 12-15 minutes and beautiful - you might see a donkey, iguana, etc. more

I read the previous review and was expecting a little more than what I saw. It was a cloudy day and it had rained earlier when we went to Leinster Bay, so that might be why. The clarity of the water wasn't its best. We did see some fish, a turtle, a ray, and a baracuda. I have had better... more

To me, Leinster Bay is what St. Johns is all about! It is, bar none, the most beautiful place I have ever visited!
