I was quoted a price when we booked our vacation in May 2008 for a trip in July 2008 never received confirmation or luggage tags like the 6 times we visited before -called a week before departure date and Francine faxed confirmation with higher price than quoted. Through numerous telephone conversations She told me we could work it out when... more

This is a fantastic resort for people who value the beaches and grounds over the decoration and amenities. The resort has seven beaches and they are all excellent. I have stayed here three times now and they are nearly always empty, with the exception of the main beach (Caneel Bay) in front of reception. The snorkeling is excellent, particularly on... more

For our first time visit to St Thomas/ St John on cruise our day in port my wife and I elected to go on our own rather than spend $90 each for the cruise excursions and visit the beach here at Caneel Bay based on recommendation from someone I know casually who says he loves this beach. I knew there... more

St.John's-Virgin Islands: Caneel Bay : "Absolutely nightmare!" Date: November 27, 2008 Reviewer: Olympia We were there nearly a month ago- we spent the Thanks Giving there. Although the physical environment is lovely our stay was totally destroyed by the so called insects, which in reality were bed bugs. My Husband and I, we have stayed in your Hotel from November... more

Just an unbelievably beautiful place. Terrific and very private beaches, beautiful grounds, and decent food. Our problem was the rooms. Simple is great and expected in the Caribbean. Worn out and badly in need of a renovation is not. Our lock rarely worked - had to jiggle it a hundred times to get it to open, our shower head was... more

This resort is a wonderful place to relax, enjoy the scenery, get away from phones, TV, etc. The beaches are marvelous and you feel completely taken away here. But the food is not as good as I would have expected, and the prices are very high. Its location away from town makes it hard to go elsewhere for a quick... more

I can't say enough about this place. It is just a breathtaking place to visit, and though definitely pricey, I would visit again. The staff was incredible and all the small touches making your stay there so nice were always taken care of. From pickup to the free ferry back to the airport, all the details are done for you.... more

I am in St. John now and just visited Caneel Bay as a visitor from another hotel in the area that costs half as much. I would have been furious if I paid the>$600 for a room at this hotel as it is mediocre at best. Yes, the beaches are nice for St. John, but beaches are public here... more

Just got back from Caneel last night. We spent our wedding night at the Ritz in St. Thomas, and honeymooned at Caneel. No regrets whatsoever! I will not waste time discussing the beaches, as it has already been said a thousand times: THEY ARE INCREDIBLE. The water was ten steps from our door! The meals we had there were all... more

Caneel Bay: Most beautiful relaxed beaches- never crowded excellent snorkeling right from your beach. The beaches here are almost like your own private places- floats are available for you to lounge in the ocean. Note there is no beach service, most people bring coolers with their own beverages- no one will set up your chair for you- but this really... more
