We avoided all the taxi tours and walked down towards the market. We took bus number 10 to Ft. Charlotte. You get off at fish stop and take a long, steep walk up the hill. Enter towards the left of the fort. It appears no one is around, but someone wil come out to set you up for the tour.... more
One jitney and you can combine this with the zoo and the Fish Fry for a fairly full day tour. Nice views from the top. Kids loved the cannons and the underground passages. Visted while in port on a cruise. A great destination for a little local history and culture. Took the local #10 jitney bus to/from the fort for $1 per person each way. Our boys (aged 7 and 9) really liked taking this mode rather than doing a packaged tour deal - felt they were seeing some of the local flare.... more
This is a much bigger fort than Fort Fincastle. The government has started charging $5 a person to go inside but it is a good twenty minute tour. It's Okay. Gives you something to do on the Island, better then not doing anything and the best part is it is FREE. It is kind of creepy to know that people actually lived there once. more
It looked like it costs $5 to get in now. We went with a tour so did not pay. It is short and there is not much but a shell of a building. It needs some artifacts or something. But it is bahamian history, so if that is what you are looking for, it is worth it. more
If you have the opportunity to see this location it is interesting. It is free, you can’t beat that. There are several tour guides that will take you around and explain what you are seeing, but you are allowed to explore on your own.
