We wanted to give Baja Ferries a try as everyone asks us what it's like - now we know. Our experience was a mixed bag. We took the Mazatlan to La Paz sailing, got a cabin, and enjoyed the trip. It is not a cruise ship - the restaurant choices are either a cafeteria (it was ok, but not thrilling)... More

We travelled earlier this year from Topolobampo to La Paz by Baja Ferries with our vehicle and dog.Their Website stated that the dog would remain in the vehicle on this ship "California Star", and not in the Cargo area. It is a 6 hour nightly ferry leaving at 11.00pm. Our dog was placed in a cage on the Cargo deck,... More

If you're on the Mexico mainland with an urge to enjoy Baja save a thousand miles of driving and take the ferry. You won't have access to your vehicle on the trip which may present problems. If you're stuck with a caravan of sick RVers in the sitting room it won't be a pleasant night. If you're not skilled at... More

Trip from la Paz to. Topo was in a large ferry with a comfortable bar. Trip from Mazatlan is in a smaller ferry with a bar which is not a comfortable. This ferry makes a much longer crossing. More

We caught a local bus from Los Mochis to Topolobampo and walked to the port (a few kilometres). Later in the evening we noticed a couple of buses came directly to the port. We bought our tickets before the ferry with no problem and opted for a cabin even though it’s not such a long journey to La Paz. The... More

We took the ferry from La Paz to Mazatlan and then the bus to Puerta Vallarta rather than try to fly from Cabo san Lucas. We got a cabin with an en suite bathroom--definitely worth it--and brought our own liquor, also a good idea because they had a very limited selection on board. We were on the Mazatlan Star, which... OK, the best thing I can say about this experience is that the staff are all really friendly and helpful and they had nice big cages for dogs - we had one of our dogs with us. Oh and also we DID arrive safe and sound - if a tad overheated - in Mazatlan on time. The ferries are pictured... More
