It is a great place to get souvenirs at a really good price. My husband thought he was schooling me, and telling me not to buy the first thing at the first price, but I had to remind him that I shopped in West Africa before...if I can wheel and deal there, I can wheel and deal anywhere...

While I agree with the other reviewer that the mercado is hectic and overwhelming to the senses, it is also one of the places you should go to if you plan on buying Mexican handicrafts. The hecticness of the market is just part of Mexican culture and it's like that all over Mexico, so its not just a tourist thing...

My husband and I went to the City Market just last week. We took the trolley into Juarez, and walked to the market. Be prepared. All your senses will be assaulted.
