Have now taken 3 of Monica's cooking classes and all of them were great. My suggestion for your first one is to include the market/shopping experience, especially if you're going to be in Zihua for awhile. Great to meet the merchants, try their unique wares and feel comfortable when you return to purchase. Learning to cook the local fresh fish... More

We had a blast and learned to cook (and eat!) a fantastic meal with Maria! Tortilla soup (both chicken and bean), enchiladas (chicken) and chilaquilles. All were wonderful and Maria is a delightful, engaging teacher. The setting is a large shaded patio behind her family restaurant. We will go back again next year for one of her other lessons. More

Monica's cooking school was great fun. I loved it. Colorful "cook book" to take home to recreate the wonderful entrees we made. You can choose what you would like to make. We made a tortilla soup, bean-based soup, and enchiladas. Delicious! Monica is so friendly and easy to follow. You chop and slice and cook and eat and it is... More

I found out about Monica's cooking class from someone in the pool at our hotel. Don't expect the hotel to know! I love the class so much I ended up taking 3 classes from her. For $25 she teaches you how to make dishes from her restaurant and then you get to eat them afterward for lunch. She teaches classes... More

We did the lunch and walk through the market. We cooked cactus salad, cowboy beans with chorizo and stuffed squash blossoms. But. to start we learned how to make salsa, the right way. Put this on your to do list. More

We had a really nice time in Monica's class. Especially enjoyed the trip to the mercado. The food she prepared was delicious and we learned a lot. Will definitely take her class again. More

We met Monica at the restaurant (Patio Mexica) that she runs, and took a walk over to the outdoor market. There we sampled lots of fruits and drinks and watched the vendors prepare the produce for sale. It was fascinating! Monica also explained all the food for us. We then returned to the patio and went to work. Each of... More

Monica's cooking school is a great way to learn about and sample local mexican dishes. We visited the mercado with Monica and got to sample local cheeses, baking, fruits, spices and herbs. It was a wonderful experience. With the ingredients purchased at the market we made salsa, cactus salad, corn tortillias, and a traditional mexican bean soup - then we enjoyed... More

When my friend suggested we go to a cooking school while on vacation, I went along with it because I like doing things with my friends not because I was interested in learning to cook anything. Monica taught us how to cook mole. We had so much fun learning about the different chiles and the different kinds of mole that... More

This was my second time to participate in Monica's cooking school.  Previously we learned to make mole.  On this occasion, tortilla soup and enchiladas were on the menu.  We began by accompanying Monica to the local farmers' market, just a few blocks away.  She knows all of the vendors and showed us the local fruits, vegetables, meats, cheeses, and seafood. ...
