The Convent Route is a series of historic little towns and villages south of Merida. I didn't hope to visit them all, as I was told to be prepared to get miserably lost. Well, I didn't get lost, not even once, there were plenty of signs, and one just had to use common sense and some Spanish to get around....

If you enjoy 16th century church art and architecture, then a visit to some of the churches on "La Ruta de los Conventos", near Cuernavaca is highly recommended.
