You can visit many colorful and beautiful churches in Mexico. This cathedral is not one of them. It is the history that might draw you inside and do notice the skull and crossbones over the main entryway. You can easily get the feel that it was built partly as a fortress back in the 1500s. Interesting because it is the only 16th century church in Mexico I have visited with a severe minimalist altar out of "Dwell" magazine. What were they thinking??
