This was a fun place to visit- kinda like a ghost town, but with more people! It was fun to see the old mines and to hear people tell stories about what the town was like back in the old days! More

Visited Pozos with a guide from Colonial Tours Mexico (located in SMA). The trip is facinating when you have a knowledgeable guide. Freddie, our guide spoke excellent English and is thoroughly educcated on the area. He took us ot some of the abandoned mines/haciendas. It is obvious that this town was once extremely wealthy. Abandoned during the war for independence,... More

San Miguel, Guanajuato, and Queretaro. Exciting and full of the energy that busy places offer. Mineral de pozos is a chill out town. A couple of hotels, a number of art galleries and craft shops, and a cool little bar off the main plaza makes for a nice getaway from the hustle and bustle. We spent a day and a... More

We've been traveling throughout Mexico for more than forty years seeking a balance of unique local cultural qualities and gringo acceptance. San Miguel de Allende, until it became overly developed, Americanized (their first Starbucks just opened) and expensive, originally satisfied our quest. Two years ago we discovered Pozos, 45 minutes from San Miguel and were instantly enchanted by it's spell... More

1st of all, Mineral de Pozos isn't for everyone. If you enjoy the shopping and ease of San Miguel, this may not be for you. On the other hand if you like exploring old ruins and hiking through old mining complexes from 100 years ago or more, this could be the place. Just don't say or believe it is the... More
