I rode the Metro up to la Villa station and walked the rest of the way. It would be an easy walk if not for the crowd. The attraction is beautiful and spread over a hilly terrain but worth the walking and stairs.The new church is huge inside and beautiful. I did'nt go into any of the buildings. It would... more

There are many wonderful places to visit in Mexico City but the Guadalupe Basilica has to be among the "must sees." Your experience and views will differ of course based on your religious inclination but if one is interested in learning a little bit more about Mexico and Mexicans, a visit to Guadalupe will certainly be worthwhile. It is a worthwhile experience for Catholics and non-Catholics alike. Being raised Catholic it was an amazing experience. The statue of Pope John Paul II and the "Pope Mobile" were especially touching as I visited shortly after his passing. more

I recently booked a tour to visit Guadalupe. I have taken many tours in my lifetime and this one was the biggest rip off of all. If you really want to see the Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe, go on your own. There are 6 churches on the site. The souvenir hawkers are in your face at this place,... more

You can feel her presence there. Magnificent sight, just be prepared to have comfortable walking shoes as you will do a lot of walking. If you are going to buy souvenirs here, there are a lot of good deals outside the Basilica walls. If it's religious items you are looking for, buy them inside the Basilica.
