It is a long tour if you buy the headset to tell you about the pieces, roughly 2 1/2 hours but well worth it. If you want to understand what some of the pieces are. The building which houses the museum is amazing, beautifully restored. Lovely views of the ethobotanical gardens. The exhibits were very interesting and an english audio tour was available. The artifacts on display from Monte Alban really tied the two activities together nicely. More

This museum, housed in an ex-convento next to the Templo Santo Domingo, is essential for any visitor to understand the history and culture of pre- and post-hispanic Oaxaca. There's a lot to take in so plan accordingly. Also, there is generally a contemporary art exhibit which, in my visits, has always been worth seeing. More
