This was really a fabulous glimpse at an ancient Mexican cultural tradition. I enjoyed watching them very much. This is basically an aerial dance that takes place atop a tall pole. The dance starts with very nice flute music as gradually the dancers descend from the pole on ropes while performing a ritual aerial dance. Truly amazing ... and famous...

This is an old indigenous tradition symbolizing the year ahead. As I am a Skydiver I find it very interesting since the discipline I practice is head down flying or freefly...plus if you know some history of the Mexican people, it adds to your culture.
It is a surviving prehispanic tradition.
