This was one of the highlights of our Yucatan trip. After a day at the ruins in Chichen Itza it was quite refreshing to jump in the cool pool! I was chicken and jumped only two feet, but my adventurous daughter (27) jumped from about 30 feet. She did it twice and said it was the thrill of a lifetime!... More

Aside from it's location right in the middle of town (which is nice enough to spend a day or two), the best about this cenote is singular opportunity of a 30 meters jump (100 ft) into a black hole as it looks like from the top ridge. It might be not allowed, but mexican kids seem to do it all... More

I have been to 7 cenotes since I've been in Mexico and I have to say there is something special about this cenote. Maybe it was perfect water temperature or maybe it's something more. This cenote is as clean and fresh as any of the larger cenotes if not more so. There is a really high place that dove off... More

For the past ten years I have been living in Valladolid 5 to 6 months a year. I have been swimming in the Cenote Zaci all those years, sometimes daily. It is a natural wonder that I call "mi fuente de juventud". Recently criticized in the press for the surface being "dirty" I became defensive. Being partially open to the... More

We had read mixed reviews of this cenote in a few different books. One said it was just ok, another said it was worth the stop, another said it was too developed. We stopped there on 1.8.10, and went swimming first (15M per person), which was great! There are several spots to jump off the path down into the cenote,... More

Went on a trip through Valladolid (which is a great, up and coming town). Didn't swim or snorkel this one based on the time we had. Was worth it just to pay to see it and walk around. It wasn't very sunny that day so snorkeling wouldn't have been great anway. Definately good to see if you are in the... More

This cenote is very pretty. It is half hidden in a cave, accessible by a ramp or by a stair. Enough of the cave roof has fallen in that the pool is brightly lit. (No fear, the rest is very solid.) Creeper roots and stalagtites hang from the roof. The pool has sheer sides and immediately gets quite deep, but... More

This has to be the best parts of my trip. We drove from Cancun to Valladolid on the toll road and we arrived in time for lunch. The restaurant at the entrance was good and the waiters were friendly. If you eat at the restaurant, you can take the side entrance to the Cenote and get in for free. I... More
