Its hard to imagine how the Mayans played this game! But they definitely did, there is still a lot of carvings of various historical occasions on the walls around Chichen Itza. Magnificent place a definite must for people interested in history! More

This would have gotten 5 stars but when we were there to see it they had it closed off because National Geographic was there doing research. With that being said the history behind it and the stories we were told were amazing. This site is connected to the pyramids so it is a must see. More

The largest ball court in the Yucatan by far, and one of 18 at the site it is a marvel. One can only imagine the ancient crowds chanting in this cavernous arena. More

"The captain of the winning team is then decapitated by the captain of the losing team." My jaw dropped when our guide mentioned that. This arena takes you to a different time and indeed a different world. Make sure you visit this place with a guide. The history of it is fascinating. More

The facts about this ancient sport is amazing. You can actually walk the field, and see the stone carvings showing the life and death of this sport. You need a guide to fully understand the entire Chichen Itza history. More
