We were on a five day Carnival cruise out of Galveston, Tx and Progreso, Mexico was one of our stops. One of our options was a day tour to these ruins. The ruins were worth the round trip bus ride from Progreso. Previously, I had visited the ruins at Tulum but these were much better and more spectacular. Imagine being... more

The ruins are incredible and are a must see but here are some things that you should be prepared for: - If you don't have a guide the entire time it stinks because there are no plaques to tell you what is what. Our guide talked to us briefly about the ball court and the main pyramid and then gave... more

Tour guide picked us up at Dreams resort. He babbled the three hours it took to get there. Our group ranging in ages from 17 to 63 all wanted to jump out of the bus. The site itself was beautiful. The ruins are amazing. The down side is that they allow the locals to set up their stands and sell... more

We traveled in July 2008 with our two kids 8 and 9 to chichen itza. I have made a few tips for going to the site: -Bring bottled water -Bring an umbrella for the sun (no joke) in the middle of the jungle it is hotter than heck! -DO not bring young children (unless in cooler months). My kids were... more

My husband, two daughters (14 & 11) and I are still in awe almost 3 weeks later about this beautiful site! The ruins are amazing but the history is even more amazing-we arrived at the ruins by a van driven by Entertainment plus around 9:30 am. It was a cloudy day to start which we were happy about as we... more

Surprisingly, our 10 and 13 year old liked this part of our trip to Cancun the most -- more than the dolphin swim which ranked second. Definitely drive yourself from Cancun and avoid the buses. Leave your hotel no later than 6:15 a.m and take the TOLLWAY to Chichen Itza. Make sure you get to the TOLLWAY to go there.... more

Me and my boyfriend visited chichen itza while staying at the riu palace las americas in cancun. We booked our all inclusive trip which included dinner and drinks with thomson as they were our tour operator, not sure if we got the best price but the trip was amazing so we weren't to bothered about the cost.
