How you feel about Progreso depends on what you want. If you're looking for smart eating places, elegant shops & sophistication, you'll be disappointed. We visited Progreso from March 12 to 16, 2007. We really enjoyed this beautiful coastal town. I couldn't believe that I hadn't heard about it sooner. It is loaded with Mexican charm and doesn't have an over commercialized feel. The beaches are beautiful and very few tourists around. I was only able to be in Progresso for a few hours, it was one of our stops for Carnival Cruise Lines.
