Our guide through the Rio Secreto was Mariana and she made the trip all the more enjoyable. She loves her job and it shows! My boyfriend and I went while staying in the area on the recommendation from hotel staff and I am so glad we did not pass it up. We were worried that it was going to be... more

I didn't know what to expect when I decided to go on this outing, but I am SO glad that I did. Rio Secreto is a natural treasure! The calcium stalagmites and stalactites are amazing and the coral is beautiful, too! Our guide, Karen, was wonderful and took time to explain each "room" that we entered. They don't even know... more

Rio Secreto was a last-minute fill in activity after the swine flu forced the closure of all archeological sites. At first I was upset that our trip to Coba was cancelled, but Rio Secreto was so amazing that I quickly forgot my disappointment. A few notes/comments: 1. Skip paying for their transportation. The listed price for the tour is $49/person... more

I got a little nervous about going to this place because I can get claustrophobic in tight places. Have no fear. It is fantastic. You walk through caverns into large open spaces that are beautifully and tastefully lit for your group. The silence and darkness is unlike anything I've heard or seen before. The guide's primary purpose seemed to be... more

Rio Secreto is series of connected, water filled caverns (they become cenotes if the roof collapes) under the Yucatan peninsula. You don a wet suit and helmet with a head lamp and a guide takes you through the caves. The caves are incredible with amazing stalactite and stalagmite formations. In places, you have to swim through the caverns, however it... more

You must go to a least 7 caves around the world to see the types of formations they will show you in this trip. We went on a night trip. Started at 17H00 and got out of the cave at night below an amazing star filled sky. After te trip and a shower a romantic candel lit dinner with were... more

Since Cenotes are almost unique to the Yucatan, it seemed I must try one. There are so many to select from and various types. Rio Secreto is very new and said to offer more cenote characteristics than any other single cenote. About 15 minutes into the journey I asked myself “what am I was doing here” but 15 minutes later,... more

What an amazing adventure under the earth! Walking, wading and swimming in an amazing underground cavern system for about an hour an a half. This is definitely something different to do if you are in the Cancun/Playa/Riviera Maya region of Mexico. I would suggest "Christian" as your guide. He was VERY knowledgeable about this tour and he speaks 6 different... more

Rio Secreto is a truly amazing attraction, which should not be missed if you're in the playa del carmen or tulum areas. There are a lot of cenotes on the Peninsula, but this feels like a real river running underground with tons of the amazing geological formations (stalagmites and stalagtites) which can only be seen in a cave like this.... more
