I visited Playa del Carmen w/my 13 y/o daughter, and we enjoyed Avenida 5 a lot. If I had been there with my husband or girlfriends it still would have been a good spot. Lots of pedestrian traffic from 3pm onwards. No cars allowed. Lots of friendly merchants not unaccustomed to bargaining. They take pesos and US $. I never saw this place Pre-Wilma but I would have trouble seeing where there was any damage. it seemed like business as usual. more

Avenida Quinta is a must see for anyone going to Playa, especially first time visitors. Do yourself a favor while you're on the street and just take a step back. Watch how people are walking. Very nice place to walk through for a day or even more. Many shops, some high end. Many restaurants and bars. The street goes from high end then to lower end and then to a very modern and luxurious area. Don't miss it, one of the best attractions in Mexico! more
