I visited Tulum with my boyfriend in December '08. We were on the Pearl of NCL. We paid about $90 each to go on the excursion while the ship was docked at Cozumel. So it was a very long trip ferry, walk some, and a coach bus trip. I would caution about the ferry or whatever it was a blue... more

There are bigger and better Mayan ruins I understand, but my family thought this was worth the time and effort in getting there. We went as part of a Royal Caribbean excursion, so we were limited on time. If I were in Cozumel again, I go and spend more time since most of our time was burned on the ferry... more

Tulum is a beautiful mayan site right on the ocean. The magesty of the ruins with the natural beauty of the lush trees and the tranquil beach combine to create a picture-perfect site. Our guide, Jesus of Translamex, was very knowledgable and engaging, making the site come alive by explaining what the ruins were and the signifigance of the site.... more

Tulum is worth a visit if your combining it with Xel-Ha (it was the same price for us to take in Tulum as we had already chosent to do Xel-Ha). We spent approx 2 hours in Tulum - the guide was very polite and informative and also gave us chance to take plenty of photo's, however after going up Coba... more

My wife and I took a half-day trip from Barcelo resort over to the ruins at Tulum. We had already been to Ek Balam. This was a totally different experience and completely different ruins. (See my review on Ek Balam). The ruins are on a cliff overlooking a sandy beach. There is very little shade at the ruins. Be prepared... more

Very pretty, dramatic ruins on the coast. I went around 7:30 am and saw no one else until around 9 am, when large tours groups arrived. The only downside is that you have to stay on marked paths and cannot get very close to any of the ruins. more

The good: beautiful turquoise water and sandy beaches, a large area of amazing ruins to see, a wonderful view of the ocean. The bad: At this time everything worth seeing up close is closed off. We drove ourselves and it was a very long hour from Playa Del Carmen. Mix rain and horrendous mosquitos and the visit was nothing like... more

I was rather looking forward to the trip to these ruins, and read a lot about them, but it was all to no use - all the frescoes etc. that articles talk about are not accessible to public, in fact, EVERY entrance to any structure is roped off, so there's not much to see, and guides end up telling tall... more

I find it very hard to believe that this is the number 8 attraction in Tulum...I didn't know that there was anything else to do in Tulum! It should be number 1, it is truly breathtaking!! The Mayans have prime real estate in this area, and they must have been very happy, waking up to those views everyday! This was... more

the first place the tour takes you is a Mayan gift shop to purchase Mayan jewels, etc. The price are more than double. When you purchase a ring they have no idea what size it is and just make it up so you purchase it. The tour itself was beautiful but the best way to see it is to rent... more
