The central square of San Miguel de Allende is a delightful, shaded garden with benches. The trees and vegetation are well-maintained. Festivals and staged events are held around El Jardin. The Parroquia Church rises above the south side. Cafes and restaurants are found on the east and west sides, while a tourist office is located on the north side. It´s... More

There is always something happening in the Jardin no matter what time of year. Mariachis, concerts, ferias and lots of residents. Walking around the Jardin on a Friday, Saturday or Sunday evening is fun and entertaining. The light show is every weekend and visitors come from far and wide to take in the beauty. Surrounded by lit Laurel trees it... More

This is Europe on central time so go, read the Atencion about what is happening in town, watch the children play and the world walk by. An added bonus is often times music and the church bells of the Parroquia. More

This is the place to be on Friday/Saturday nights and on holidays. The action doesn't start until 9:00 PM. You will find Mariachi bands in every corner of the square and all the portales. More

Especially if walking around San Miguel, there is almost no way to avoid at least passing El Jardin. It sits in front of the big Gothic style Parroquia and is the heartbeat of San Miguel for the local residents as well as Mexican and foreign visitors. The portales along three sides shelter flower vendors, little cafes, the mayor´s office and... More

This review is more of the town than the Jardin specifically. I expected to be overrun by Gringos in this place but was pleasantly surprised to see I was most definitely in Mexico. There is a lot of charm in the downtown area especially. However, don't hesitate to walk or travel throughout the rest of the city. It is really... More

Tucked away in a corner of El Jardin, in a lovely space around one of the fountains, is an exercise class that focusses on stretching, integration of the brain, flexibility and meditation. My hostess is a regular participant. My first day in San Miguel I joined the class. Part Tai Chi, with Latin and Indian influences, the hour invigorated, refreshed,... More

Every city in Mexico seems to have a plaza in the center of town. So does San Miguel de Allende. This one is nice with lots of trees and benches and paths for walking. But, this being San Miguel, you might see more Gringos than Mexicans in this one. Every time we passed through or near this nice Jardin it... More

While in many Mexican cities, the central plaza is called the Zocalo (most notably D.F., aka Mexico City), in San Miguel it's called the JARDÍN (pronounced har-DEEN)! If you ask anyone where the zocalo is in San Miguel, they will give you a quite puzzled look. (There is an upscale decor store called Zocalo in S.M.) Anyway, this is definately... More
