It's definitely one of the best surfing spots/beaches on earth ... for advanced surfers! Don't (!) go there for swimming or if you're a surfing beginner, but choose e.g. "La Punta", if you surfed before and want to try a fast hollow point-break wave with left direction, sandy/rock bottom and normal length or "Carrizalillo", if you're a beginner and want... great beach break for surfing...considering that is one of the top surfing spots worldwide. if you're a good swimmer or surfer take a look of the yellow or red flag before get in or ask local surfers about the currents. if you're beginner go to la Punta by colectivo or share a taxi. surf up! More

I've been going to Puerto Escondido for the last 10 years to surf with my husband & I love it. The beach is huge, beautiful & very clean. The waves are obviously awesome for surfing but they are making swimming a dangerous andeavour, so be carefull! More

Mornings are really special for walking- but go early- in January it was getting warm by 9:00 a.m To walk on a clear sand beach, hardly a pebble to be found with the amazing waves crashing in is an awesome experience. More
