In short; It is a must see and must tour... ask for a private tour - it's well worth it. Very much enjoyed the place and even had lunch there afterwards. Would recommend over Jamisons, Tullamore Dew and even Guinness as Guinness is way too commercialized now but as well, worth experiencing. You won't be disappointed in this place, the... More

We drove from Galway to Dublin and were looking for something to see along the way. This distillery was very cool and just off the highway. One part is a museum of the old distillery and one part is the modern working distillery. Working waterwheel is neat. Nice to have a little tipple at the end of the tour as... More

Nice food in the restaurant and we were given a tour of the distillery by none other than the ex owner, who is a gentleman. More

It was a very nice day trip, on the N6 from Dublin to Kilbeggan and, of course as luck would have it, we picked a beautiful day with sunshine. The self-guided tour was fun, and the employees were knowledgeable and friendly. We had a great time, my husband especially enjoyed the whiskey tasting session. It's an old distillery with a... More

Locke's distillery is a beautifully restored and now a working distillery on the river Brosna. It looks to be virtually the exact same from when it was first built over 200yrs ago. I found it nicer than the Guinness storehouse in Dublin. It wasn't one bit touristy or fake. Visitors go on a self guiding tour and there is a... More

Myself & my fiance pulled into a great parking spot directly outside the building, the first thing you see is the big water wheel outside connecting the river to the old distillery building. Immediately this really puts you in the mood for finding out more secrets & history. Inside we were greeted with friendly staff who explained our tour was... More

Locke's Museum is a community effort and well worth a visit. Particularly lovers of old machinery can admire the wheels, drives, gears, kettles and a great old steam engine. Aside, one learns how whiskey used to be made. It is a self-guided tour, which means you can take as much time as you like. At the end of the tour... More

If you want to see a distillery in the northern half of Ireland, do not go to Bushmills, go here. Locke's offers a fascinating peek into the history of the Kilbeggan distillery. It’s like a Wonka factory for grownups. They are owned by Cooley Distillery, which is no longer open for tours, so you can taste other great products like... More

Had seen a free family day advertised in local Galway paper and as we pass through Kilbeggan visiting family regularly we decided to visit. There a huge free car park to the rear of the distillery which is great. I would recommend a summer visit as we all but froze visiting this attraction as everywhere is open to the cold/outside... I really enjoyed the self-guided tour of the museum. Even though Locke's no longer produces whiskey, a lot of the equipment is running so you can see how it works. More
