Best advice: start early, take the shuttle bus up to Sunshine Meadows, hike all around beautiful scenery, then trek over to Healy Pass for more views, and finally hike back down to the parking lot on your own. This itinerary is a full day of hiking (~28 km for our route), but if you have great weather like we did,...

One of the most beautiful hikes in Banff, especially when the wild flowers are in bloom. The trails to and from the lakes can get very busy, but with a little more effort, and with proper hiking boots, Sunshine Meadows is pristine with a top of the world feel to it. You should pre-book the bus up and down, otherwise...

We took the 12:00 bus in to Sunshine Meadows and returned on the 3:30 bus. The bus cost $26.00 per person round trip. We spent 3 hours hiking about 5 miles (8 km) of trails. We started on the Rock Isle Trail, then onto the Garden Path Trail which loops around Grizzly Lake and Larix Lake. These lakes would make...

We were a little late for the wildflowers, but it was still very enjoyable. It's nice to be bussed up to where the good stuff is instead of walking up almost 2000 vertical feet and then hiking in the meadow. On a nice day you'll want a couple of hours to hike, maybe more. The trick, and source of some...

We bought tickets for the Sunshine Meadows bus in advance for the 8 am time slot on Sunday, August 14 because we wanted a leisurely hike out to Citadel Pass and back. There were only 4 other people on the bus which surprised me a great deal because I thought the bus would be full. Our bus driver wanted to...

Our apologies to you for the length of wait you had for the bus. We are looking at ways to improve this for next season. We did get caught with our pants down a few times this summer, and want to make sure that this will not happen in future.

The scenery on these hikes is beautiful. Unfortunately, the only ways to access Sunshine Village are by foot (a 6 km walk from the main parking lot) or by bus. The bus is a complete rip off costing a family of 4 just under $100. What makes the charge even more offensive is the fact that there is no guarantee...
