If you like county fairs, I think you'll like the Calgary Stampede. It's much like a gigantic county fair, but with more attractions tacked onto it. There's a huge selection of carnival food, a fairly good midway of games and rides, a lot of music, and a pretty good selection of different shows (everything from stunt bikes to stunt dogs).... more

We really loved the day at the Stampede.... The best advice i can make is to stay somewhere where you can take the C train. We made the beginner Stampede attendee mistake of driving into the stampeded. As soon as we reached the Stampede grounds we realized our mistake and headed back to the hotel. The rides were the main attraction for kids. The food stands are pretty good too. I prefer greek. The prices for everything is pretty high and the weather was hot too. If you plan to attend any shows such as the "super dogs," be there at least 30-45 minutes early. to get a seat. more
