Our hotel suggested the walk to Granville Island and said we should have lunch there for certain. It was very cold that day so the walk seemed longer than it really was. But after getting there and seeing the places to eat, harbor area to sit in and watch the boats, galleries, shops and especially the market place we were so very glad... more

There are some shops here, lots of art shops/galleries/schools/displays, a nice market & restaurants. Not cheap shopping but fun for a few souvenirs. I loved the market, great to see the flowers, fresh meat & dish and fruits/vegetables. It's neat to be under the bridge. Ate lunch looking out on the water. more

Visited the island a few times during my trip to Van. Went to see the public market which is a must do while on the island. You'll be overwhelmed with the choices of what to eat. Try something you've never eaten before don't get stuck eating what you usually eat. more

While I wouldn't budget the better part of a day for Granville Island, it is a great place to spend about 2 hours. The public market has a lot of delicious, fresh produce along with yummy baked goods and homemade chocolates. Better still, the galleries are fun to look through and there are entertainers to sit and watch/listen while spending... more

Nice views of the city, some nice restaurants, but the shops are the same as you will find in any tourist trap the world over. more

My husband and I just returned from a visit to Vancouver and made sure that we visited Granville Island. It happened to be raining the day we went, but it did not dampen the experience at all. We took a cab from our hotel (Farimont Waterfront-cost 10.00). We got off at the market and walked around admiring the beautiful flowers,... more

The public market at Granville is pretty fun to walk around and to have lunch. The best part of Granville is getting to and leaving the island. We went to Vancouver in August 09 and took the Rainbow Tug boat to the island which was a fun was to see the skyline from the water and than we walked the... more

You can get there by public transportation, and parking is a bit messy. We didn't see many stores or restaurants that didn't have superior counterparts in the city. If you walk Robson street, you can fill your shopping needs. It is a bit of a gimmick, as others have posted. They had some nice street entertainment going on, and the... more
