I was hesitant about paying the steep $20 entrance fee. However, after having been there, I would certainly pay it again. These gardens are the most beautiful I've seen, and you can easily spend half a day there. They offer a year pass, I believe, which would definitely be worth it if you lived there. The "lower garden" was wonderful but the rest of the gardens were so-so. The Rose Garden was suprisingly dreadful with rust and pests.
