If you are already on Government street why not take a few more steps and check out Chinatown at Government and Fisgard (or is it Herald?) The Gate of Harmonious Interest is certainly something to see, as is Fan Tan Alley. Lately it seems that there are less Chinese attractions in Chinatown and a growing number of regular shops. Maybe... More

I find that China Town is always the same. Some of the shops nove seem to have anything different and most of them seem very tired. Needs some cleaning and something new. More

Great ambiance!!, it's the place for Chinese food, Chinese ingredients and Chinese restaurants. It is a small remnant of one block to symbolize the Chinese pioneers who helped build BC and their descendants, who are now suburban diaspora. Bring a camera, the dominant colour is Chinese 'lucky' red! More

Chinatown is a treat to visit... the nooks, the crannies, the unique little shops along the hidden alleys and the excellent eateries. As a photographer, I can spend hours there in Fan Tan Alley. More

99% of the time I'm downtown, I like to drive under the beautiful China Gate on my way home. It's a traditional and lovely section of old town. More

Many times, my friends and I enjoy meandering through China Town in Victoria. The shops with their narrow doorways fool you because once inside, so many of them stretch so far back, around corners and into little rooms. The shops vary from fresh produce to household items to antiques to souvenirs and historical interest. You can wander between buildings through... More

I live in Victoria and never tire of visiting Chinatown. I love to buy fresh veggies here but there are also good restaurants and some very hip coffee houses. FanTan Alley has some of the most interesting shops and galleries in the city. This area is an important part of Victoria's history and I believe it is the oldest surviving... More

Don't let the history of this 'oldest' chinatown pass you by. Look for the little alleys and hidden stores and the former mahjong gambling locations, now stores and art galleries. More
