I find that China Town is always the same. Some of the shops nove seem to have anything different and most of them seem very tired. Needs some cleaning and something new.

Great ambiance!!, it's the place for Chinese food, Chinese ingredients and Chinese restaurants. It is a small remnant of one block to symbolize the Chinese pioneers who helped build BC and their descendants, who are now suburban diaspora. Bring a camera, the dominant colour is Chinese 'lucky' red!

Chinatown is a treat to visit... the nooks, the crannies, the unique little shops along the hidden alleys and the excellent eateries. As a photographer, I can spend hours there in Fan Tan Alley.

99% of the time I'm downtown, I like to drive under the beautiful China Gate on my way home. It's a traditional and lovely section of old town.

Many times, my friends and I enjoy meandering through China Town in Victoria. The shops with their narrow doorways fool you because once inside, so many of them stretch so far back, around corners and into little rooms.

Don't let the history of this 'oldest' chinatown pass you by. Look for the little alleys and hidden stores and the former mahjong gambling locations, now stores and art galleries.
