My wife and I visited Victoria for the first time last Sept ('06). The inner harbor had great restaurants, hotels, and shops within walking distance. The inner harbor area of Victoria is enjoyable to wander and take in the many sights. The ships in the harbor, watching floatplanes take off and land, stay or visit the Empress Hotel, and tour the Parliament building. We took a floatplane tour of the greater Victoria area and the views of the harbor from the plane were unbeatable! more

This area is so active, day or night. There are lots of performers around, from bag pipers to digereedo players. It's amazing! more

The inner harbor is very beautiful, but loads of tourists when we were there (July). It can get very crowded. However, there were artisans selling their wares, plenty of shops and good places to eat.
