My husband and I will never forget our stay here because of the fantastic service we received from the wonderful housekeeping staff. Our infant son became suddenly very ill late at night and the housekeeping staff came immediately to change all the linens and offer any assistance we needed. I feel like they went above and beyond and really made... more

This hotel is the centerpiece of Victoria with its picture perfect location on the water. I went with my mother who had not been since she was a child. She was not disappointed on her return visit some 40 years later. The hotel has managed to maintain its historic charm, but the rooms need some updating. They were clean and... more

Just returned from two nights each in Fairmont Victoria and Fairmont Vancouver. Contrast unbelievable. Victoria hotel is a monument to the past and living in the past. High tea was great but the rooms are musty and rundown. Carpet filthy and mildew in shower. When I commented at front desk, I was told that REIT that owns property doesn't have... more

My wife and I had been told that afternoon tea at the Empress Hotel was a worthwhile stop, and we weren't mislead! Starting with the folks who handle reservations (we rescheduled three times!), through the maitre d', to the waitress, service was outstanding. The tea selection is excellent, and the food was delicious. There is nothing about this experience that... more

This hotel, after enduring a stressful trip getting to Victoria, was a "sure bet" and the room was very pleasent and noise free. The bed was very comfortable and the whole experience was like being in England. A must is to take tea while there in the tea room. more

The wait staff were like zombies going through the motions,not... more

I just returned from taking my mother to the Empress for her seventy-first birthday. It was wonderful! They did everything possible to make the event memorable: our room was upgraded; there was a birthday note, chocolates and a tin of tea waiting for her in the room; we had the best seats in the house for high tea; and she... more

We have just returned from a mini bday getaway from the Empress hotel. It was a great experience. Our stay was booked as part of the Secret Season's package which starts at $179cdn/night. This includes High Tea and full breakfast for 2. We got a waterfront room which was a bit small but very clean. Our little dog came along... more

As locals who read a newspaper article extolling the virtues of the curry buffet in the Bengal Room, we were very disappointed with our Saturday night dining out experience. We found no fault with the service or the decor - both were above average. Thus the suggestion that you enjoy the experience of the Bengal Room by going in for... more

It was hard to rate because the hotel and gardens are so beautiful including the restaurant where the High Tea was served. You are 1st served of course tea. Then you are served in a crystal dessert dish yogurt and berries. Then you are served on a three tiered silver platter 4 each little finger sandwiches and small slices of... more
