We were given lots of interesting information by a member of the Lilwat tribe. Children would love the opportunity to dress up and use the musical instruments. The opportunity to make a bidchbark bracelet was an eye opener into how hard life must have been.Everything is displayed superbly with lots of written information. The guides are very willing to talk... More

From the moment you enter the Squamish Lil'wat Cultural Centre you are swept up in a glimpse into First Nations Culture. The greeting, the song & dance 'ice breaker', the informative film and the opportunity to take away a traditional souvenier that you make..it all adds up to an engaging, educational and memorable visit. Make sure you go on the... More

Overlooking Lost Lake, and the mountains, the style of this beautiful building is a refreshing change from the ersatz alpine kitsch so prevalent in the rest of Whistler. What goes on inside is equally riveting. We loved the movie, the tour by David and the displays of the canoes. My goodness but we learned a lot! The culture of the Squamish... More

Thank you scarface154936 for visiting our facility. David is one of our senior tour guides and his stories and tours are a great reflection of how the Squamish and Lil’wat Culture are alive and vibrant. We hope next time you will have time to come back with your niece; we love to have lively children in the centre, playing the... More

Before it was a ski resort, Whistler was part of the traditional territory of the Squamish and Lil'wat people. The Cultural Centre, located in the Upper Village has an amazing collection of artifacts and historical documents from this time. Also, there's an excellent little cafe where visitors can enjoy such delicacies as salmon chowder, bannock and the intriguing sounding Indian... More

Ahh yes our Bannock brings people back for a second and third visit all the time! Each staff member makes it a little differently according to their family's tradition and if you drop by at the right time you can smell the bread baking throughout the whole venue. Hope to see you back in our café soon! More

We went there for a snowshoeing tour and It came with admission to the cultural center. They gave us a tour, sang a traditional song, showed a 15 minute video and we made a bracelet out of cedar. There were hands on sections and we could touch bear fur. The bannock and salmon for purchase was amazing!!!!! Great place! The... More

The centre is beautiful and the tour guide was very upbeat and fun. We made cedar rope bracelets and also learned a lot - definitely go see the place. More

This place is in a spectacular building with amazing informational displays. There aren't many artifacts IMO but it's a pleasant way to spend a couple of hours. I think it's a bit over-priced at C$18.50 though. More

Thank you for your review johnstoj. Thanks for the compliment regarding our building and informational displays. Ever since we opened (less than 4 years ago), we have been continuing to build our collection of art and artifacts. Our local First Nations ambassadors are very proud of the opportunity to help our guests interpret and understand the local indigenous culture. Our... More

Nice display of canoes, apparel, baskets, tools and art work from both the Squamish and Lil'wat tribes. Your visit starts with a very informative film on their land and history. It was followed by a tour of the museum. We finished making cedar bark bracelets. The gift shop is extensive and they have a cafe that features items linked to... More

Thank you RussBock for visiting us all the way from Minnesota and we are glad you enjoyed your vacation to Whistler and the Cultural Centre. We have worked very hard to create such an extensive Gallery and Gift Shop, one that boasts art and gifts from over 50 First Nations’ Artists. This summer we were fortunate to receive funding to... Was great to get an insight into the local indigenous culture - the tour guide was great in telling the story of her people. Both personal and epic, it's a small but powerful collection of stories, pictures, artefacts. Lovely little cafe too. More

If you have ever seen any native artifacts in any other museum, ever, dont bother going here. Thank god we got 50% off because we showed up 1 hr before closing. We were worried we would not have enough time to see everything....25 minutes later we were out the door and dissapointed. More

Dear Tim J: We are sorry we did not meet your expectations during your visit to the Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre and that you did not get the chance to truly experience local First Nation’s culture.
