I visited the gallery for the second time last week. Their permanent collection is nice, with a few Dalis and medieval pieces, but mainly comprised of 18th century British landscape and portrait artists. It's a limited collection. The Jaret Belliveau photo exhibit was interesting, as was the exhibit on New Brunswick pop art, and the exhibit on Lord Beaverbrook was... More

Lie below the enormous Dali (Santiago De Grande) and try to imagine it as it was meant to be viewed, high on cathedral altarpiece. The story goes that Lord Beaverbrook knew Dali and convinced him that he should have the work, not the Catholic church.... More

This seems to be a very small collection of art, and most of it I find less approachable than at larger galleries in Ontario -- probably a must-see for genuine art experts, less so for the rest of us. More

This gallery has a fabulous permanent collection, and excellent temporary exhibitions. We were fortunate to be given a super introduction to the gallery's pride and joy, a HUGE Salvador Dalí painting of Santiago, the Moorslayer, on a rampant horse, by a very knowledgeable custodian. More

Lord Beaverbrook collected European paintings in the 1940's and 50s, while he owned the London Daily Express and was head of Britain's War Ministry.
