A short walk up the hill and you'll be amazed. You actually can't see the castle at all so we were rather suprised when we entered not actually knowing what the citadel was but as everyone else was going in we paid to enter too. A must when visiting Halifax. Well worth the price. The guided tour is a must, the guides have a lot of background knowledge. Staff (dressed in authentic clothing/uniforms) is easily available to answer any questions you might have. more

This place is probably the top tourist attraction in Halifax and well worth a couple of hours. Be forewarned, if you're walking, it's a good hike up there. The Citadel is a nice fort on a great site overlooking the city. It is a nice place to explore for a few hours, assuming the weather is nice. The museum was well done, but exhibits were a bit boring after a while. I would not plan to spend more than a few hours here. more
