Very interesting and set up beautifully. The short guided tour is a must - you will get more information than just reading the displays. If anyone in your family has immigrated through Pier21, I highly recommend you experience this! more

I thought the museum was thoroughly enjoyable. It is decorated to look as it did when it was in operation. The free guided tour was conducted by a Pier 21 alumni who had many interesting stories. I spent about 3 hours at Pier 21 which was enough to see everything including the special display on settling the Canadian West and... more

I fully understand how people find Pier 21 interesting if they have relations/friends who came through it and are interested in finding out more. However on our recent visit to Halifax we decided to split our last day between the Atlantic Maritime Museum and Pier 21 and I have to say that as an "outsider" I found the Maritime Museum... more

My grandparents came over thru Pier 21, and i was pretty much overwhelmed by this place. I have heard stories from them, but nothing compared to this. Exhibits are very well done, esp. the movie. Found many names in the ship rosters that I knew, and the staff were extremely helpful, esp since all we had were last names! even... more

Great staff and very knowledable of the museum. I did however find that the gift shop was very over prized and not many suitable souvenirs or momentos for the Immigrants that returned to visit their Gateway to the future. more

A must visit, especially if you have freinds or family that immigrated to Canada from Europe in the 1930's, '40's, '50's or '60's. My wife and I were able to find old archived pictures of the ship that her father took from Europe to Canada in the early 1960's during his immigration. more

I was quite excited about visiting Pier 21 as it was just being constructed the last time I visited Halifax. I had heard several good recommendations about it. I was not impressed. It touts itself as being a multi-media presentation, but it's mainly static exhibits - classic museum format of text and pictures. The live interpreters were sometimes poorly informed... more

While an interesting museum, the visit was probably not worth the money. The collections and artifacts were lacking in number and quality , and the movie and dioramas were a little cheesy. more

Pier 21 while no longer working to process immigrants, still in the docking pier for many large cruise ships. It is a wonderful musuem, especially if you tour it with a guide. The history is so rich and there is a lot to learn for both adults and children. The most interesting exhibits are those on war brides to Canada... more
