This cemetery is across from Saint Mary's Basilica and St. Paul's Church. Graves date from 1749. Unfortunately the stone used for most of the gravestones has not weathered well, and many inscriptions are lost. You can wander through this small cemetery and be saddened at reading the headstones for so many small children and infants, and realize how fragile life... more

This ancient graveyard is similar to ones you might find in Boston, though since it dates from 1749 there are no 17th century graves. It does have very good examples of the early style New England / Nova Scotia gravestones with grim death's head, winged angels and severe epitaphs, as well as the typical early nineteenth century willow/urn variety. more
