We took the Maid of the Mist the afternoon before we went to Journey Behind the Falls, so we probably built ourselves up for one experience topping the other, which didn't happen. I went in 1961, when you could go all the way to the portal openings and see the huge curve of the horseshoe and look up to the brink, and down at the boulders, and all around. You go down to the base of the Falls and look through a couple of openings (all you see is mist), then out to a platform. If you have plenty of time then do it, but if you can only do a few attractions I would skip this. more

Of all the attractions that we did at the falls (Maid of Mist, Butterfly Conservatory, Clifton Hill), this one was the most disappointing. You go underground and basically into these tunnels that lead to open portals where you can see from behind the falls-mind you you dont see much it just looks like a patch of white but still cool to hear the gushing water and know that you are behind the falls. We were expecting more. One neat platform and then two "not so neat" openings to peer into the falls. We left wanting more. We rode the Maid of the Mist and then went to the Cave of the Winds and were much happier. more

In my opinion, I thought it was a waste of money, not as good as Maid of the Mist or Cave of the Winds, however, boyfriend LOVED it! so, it’s an individual thing, you stand it line to buy tickets, cost: $13.00 and you can’t even get in line for the attraction, you are given a time to come back.... more
