great place to visit if you enjoy history. Polite helpful well informed staff. In summer it could use more staff as with a number of visitors they didn't seem to have denough gtime to answer the questions of all. I visited more than once.in the off season and it was wonderful. More

The house has been lovingly restored, and includes a variety of interesting architectural elements (stained glass window, crown moulding, doors with faux graining etc), all of which are original and still intact. The guide was very knowledgable and glad to answer questions about the house. I agree that it is a shame the 3rd floor and other wing of the... More

We visited Beaconsfield Historic House on Victoria Day when it was by donation (instead of standard admission fees). Our tour guide was very knowledgeable on the house and Charlottetown. The home was beautifully maintained and very elegant for it's time. I'd definitely recommend going to Beaconsfield Historic House while in Charlottetown. More

I read that the original gardens are going to be made part of the landscaping in the back yard; I hope that comes to fuition. Previous reviewers have provided a lot of historical background, so I'll... More

This is an elegant old home in the heart of the city. It was built in 1877 for James Peake Jr, a shipbuilder, merchant and one of the city's leading businessmen. The place was equipped with all the latest conveniences including gas lighting, running water, and a form of central heating. There are 25 rooms with 8 fireplaces. However, in... More

This is a grand, grand home in historic Charlottetown. It was built for a very wealthy local merchant who had a spectacular sense of taste. All of the fixutres, stained glass, statues, and tile work are original to the home. The home was one of the first to have running water, gas lights, and central heating on the Island. Everything...
