This is a wonderful way to spend an afternoon. Every year there is a special attraction. You can buy a package that allows you to visit more than 1 spot. Don't forget to visit the butterful house.
Was there during lantern festival. The Chinese garden was impressive. Japanese garden was not that impressive during the night. Opposite of Jardin Botanique is the stadium where you can take the funicular up to the top for view of the city.
We had a coupon for buy one, get one free admission. The line to get in was HUGE. They did have an option to purchase tickets ahead of time by credit card and then wait in a shorter line, but to pay with cash and/ or with coupon, we were stuck in the giant line. The gardens were very pretty... More

The botanical gardens are a wonderful escape from the city life if you want tranquility. The japanese garden and bonsai collection are beautiful. The green house for tropical, cactus and orchid is a great sight . Don't miss it if you come to Montreal.
They have a lot of very different collections : orchids, cactus....inside, Japanese garden, native garden, great arboretum (and a special mention for lilacs-my favorites). To note, they also have greats events : butterflies free in greenhouse in spring (a must), mosaiculture, gardens of light, halloween......and so and so. (there is a café-restaurant or you can bring your own lunch and... More
The Montreal "Jardin botanique" hosted the "Mosaicultures" (sculptures made of plants) exhibition last summer, from June to September 2013 and it was a huge success (more than a million visitors). But even when there is no exhibition the Botanical Garden is a wonderful place to visit, both indoors and outdoors. The hothouses contain a world of tropical or rare plants,... More
It is a huge place to visit if you love plants from flowers to trees, rare and or exotic plants. A very well made green house (flowers, tropical, desert plants, also with seasonal exhibitions -XMas, Easter, Halloween, etc…). the actual transport around this huge place is a welcome for everyone.
An interesting botanical garden for gardeners that has specialized plant collections, e.g. desert plants, tropical plants in the greenhouse and collections of poisonous plants, medicinal plants, etc. outside. Good rose collection for hardy winter zones and an interesting tree collection. Cafeteria has good food for that kind of eatery and it is possible to take a picnic there in the... More
Ok, I push the title a little too far. Whatever, this place is really fantastical. As a resident, I have visited the garden almost once a year for the last 10 years. The bonsai collection is specially impressive. Only the greenhouse worth the visit. And if you are in the right season, the external garden are a lot of fun... More
