On our recent trip to Quebec City We visited the Musee de la Civilisation. The Egyptian Mummy Exhibit, which will only be there until April 4th of 2010 was great. There were interactive games and they had great exhibits showing x-ray's and CT scans of the Mummies. The rest of the museum really wasen't anything special. My wife did like... more

We were in Quebec this past summer for the 400th anniversary of the founding of Quebec City. This was one of the museums that we attended while there. It is quite attractive to view from the outside and has an unusual design. Inside, it is quite spacious and there was plenty of information about the exhibits. If one carefully looked... more

This is an excellent, first rate museum located in the heart of the historic area of Quebec City. They do have lots to see and it is too much for one day. So my suggestion is to pick from the exhibits to tour and only do those that interest you. When you enter the museum be sure to get the... more

Right on the riverfront - a short walk from anywhere in Vieux Quebec. $10/adult entrance fee. Public transit & parking right at the front door. It's listed as "#1 Things To Do in Quebec City" on TA, but I was less than wowed. Modern and minimalistic with permanent and rotating exhibits. The "Canadian history" exhibit was good. "Gold of the... more

My wife and I went in here right at opening time and were lucky to get a private guided tour in english of the "gold" exhibit. Each section of the museum has bilingual tour guides who will lead groups at scheduled times to get more details on the displays. Even without guides, every area has some videos or audio headphones... more

An excellent find just south of the wharf. The Gold in the America's exhibit is quite thorough and thoughtful. We didn't have much time to see the other exhibits, but the rooms and exhibits are designed to draw you through the displays. The Leisure time exhibit is great, and would be prefect to let the kids run off some of... more

This museum was on top our "to do" list for Quebec City. It was disappointing. It was hot, overcrowded and very few people to help guide you. There were tons of school groups and the kids ran amuck. We couldn't get into the Dragon show at any time as it filled up over an hour in advance. The displays were... more

This is a must see museum. I have seen major museums throughout Europe and the Western U.S.. Musee de la Civilisation hits all five senses in an incredible way. The First People exhibit is well worth visiting. Literature is multi-lingual, with take home activity books in French and English. I hope to visit every year in conjunction with Quebec's fabulous... more

An excellent museum that has a variety of very interesting exhibits presented in an interactive format. Leave yourself enough time to push the buttons, watch the films and pull out the drawers for closer looks. The current exhibit on crime-scene investigations-- where you get to "solve" the murder using the clues and visiting the labs-- will take an hour or... more
