I visited Zaros in Ocotber 2011, together with a group of Norwegian friends. Some days before we came to Zaro we made a deal with Vivi about coocing lesson on Taverna Vegera. When we arrived to Zatos, we were met by Vivi, a very warm and hospitable person. She is the owner of the tavern. The coocing lesson was amazing.... More

A two-hour afternoon cooking lesson with Vivi and her mother taught me some of the secrets of Cretan cooking. I know I shouldn't give the secrets away but two have made my life so much easier ... and tastier. The first was not to cook the rice before stuffing Peppers, and how to make them really tasty without adding meat... More

Two women started on Cretan style bechamel at the big gas cooker.... More

A great experience, Vivi is a warm and you leave feeling you have known her for years. We cooked for 2-3 hours and then ate - excellent way to meet other people and enjoy the food. We paid 25 euros for the lesson and the food and wine - that was for 2 people. We will be returning and will... More

Traveling to Zaros as a college student, I was eager to become emerged into the Cretan lifestyle. If you are able to learn about the food of a culture, you have a good sense of what makes the locals who they are. Vivi's cooking lesson was the perfect activity that aided the emersion I desired. She taught us the custom... More

For several years, we have stayed in Zaros during our journeys in Crete. There you can follow cooking lessons in the tavern Vegera (in the center of the village). Vivi and her mother have a fantastic feeling for cooking the authentic Greek food. You can help them during the preparing of the daily menu, even if you're not a good... More
