If you have a few hours to spare in Sussex, and your wife is resting, take a quick drive to Bodiam. We ran around the place... More

If you asked a child to draw their idea of the perfect English castle they would draw a picture of Bodiam. It has a classic moat and battlements and when you climb up to the towers you can see what a great vantage point it has. Looking out on to the open fields it would be easy to believe that... More

Since childhood, Bodiam has been my favourite English Castle; picturesque and fairy tale in design, it is a 14th-century moated castle with drawbridge. Built in 1385 near Robertsbridge in East Sussex the Castle is open to the public, operated by the National Trust’s ownership. Admission prices are reasonable averaging around £5 per person with concessions for an adult and three... More

I have visited Bodiam as a small boy; as a parent of small children and now as a man of 60+. It is unusual in being a full, 360 degree building, battlements and moat all round, making it just perfect for letting the childish imagination run wild. It is picturequely situated in a rural valley. It can be circumnavigated for... More

This castle is one of the loveliest unspoilt castles in England. Climb up to the top and you can see for miles acros stunning landscape. The gardends and hills are just the spot to lay down and enjoy the peace and quiet. Take a picnic and just enjoy the day. More
