if you wish to see the city of Bristol from a different aspect then take the ferry, but otherwise you are unlikely to be that impressed by the river itself. More

Lovely walks, sites, pubs, boat trips or just sit and watch the world go by. Can be enjoyed in the countryside of in the centre of Bristol and Bath, amongst others. More

Loved the river trip/s. Modern buildings sit comfortably with historic dock buildings and IK Brunels first steam/sailing ship. Special trips get you up the gorge to see the Clifton Bridge - I think these need to be booked and I would guess it is worth it. Didn't do it this trip but will the next time! Not well advertised so... More

Bristol has made itself aware of the historic importance of its waterside and there are now lots of things to see and do all based around the old harbour. Take one of the many water cruises and see the city from a different angle! More

Beyond Bristol docks the Avon is a lovely river to explore, but alas the tidal stretch looks horrible at low tide thanks to the mud. Surprisingly though fish do exist there and sea trout are evident apparently. More

it's the very heart of Bristol, so much history and yet it's still very much alive, having been neglected for so many years, the people and council have finally woken up to what a great leisure facility it is. Go for a walk, people watch, get out into the fresh air and enjoy it - IT'S FREE!!! More
