We have lived in Cambridge for many years and only just got round to visitng the SPRI, as my parents came to visit and wanted to attend the exhibtion on Scott's last expedition to Antarctica. It's a lovely little museum, with lots of information about both polar regions, including goelogy, native peoples, expeditions etc. There's an optional audio guide, which... More

It's the 100th anniversary of the tragic loss of Captain Scott and his brave party. The current free exhibition, with its artifacts, costumes, models, mementoes, letters, diary entries and more provides a moving insight. The display is exemplary. Not to be missed. More

You get to see everything about Scott and his doomed adventures. Even has the various journals that they wrote when they knew it was all over. Highly recommmended for any visit to Cambridge. Can be done in 30 minutes and close to the Fitzwilliam so both can be combined. More

I recently read Sir Rannulph Fiennes book on Robert Falcon Scott and wanted to visit the SPRI ever since. Also, it is 100 years almost to the day that he and his fellow travellers died in their tent after returning from the South Pole. The exhibition area has recently been refurbished and it is light and bright with an excellent... More

People we have spoken to who 'know' Cambridge have never visited this outstanding museum. To see the writing, drawing and photos of the men of Scott's last expedition to the Antartic plus the exploration of the Artic is something not to be missed. Amazing. Vaut le detour! More

Spent a couple of hours here and was drawn into all the incredible achievments of the past. The exploits of these incredible men would be enough BUT the written letters and diaries were really moving.Free entry means that nobody should miss out on a visit when in Cambridge. The actual museum is small but the content is immense More

A very interesting but poignant exhibition is currently held at the Scott Polar Research Institute on Lensfield Road. It covers Capt Scott's ill-fated expedition and also some coverage of other expeditions. The equipment displays are fascinating as are the very personal mementoes such as letters written to loved ones at home. Interesting for children and adults alike. More

This is a small museum, part of the university's research institution. Special expedition about Scott's journey to the South Pole on when I visited, also information about other exploration in both Arctic and Antarctic. Enjoyed the visit but would love to have seen a model of the Antarctic. More

I travelled from West yorkshire to view what I hoped would be the definitive exhibtion of Scott artifacts, accounts and supporting data. Very disappointing. One senses that exhibition was not properly curated. Pontings photos were not not adequately displayed, nor were there nearly enough of them. A triptyche would have been dramatic. The diaries and last letters although available for inspection... More
