You never do the things closest to you, so decided to go on the punts. Although fairly expensive had a lovely time and would definitely go again in the summer. We were a group of 8 with 2 kids (2 and 4) and they both loved it too. Our guide was excellent ( can't remember his name though) he was...

Wasn't sure about doing the punting tour as I thought it might be a bit gimmicky and touristy but it was actually great. Our 'driver' Tom, was really knowledgeable and gave us a lot of info and stories. This company also provides blankets and umbrellas on the punts, both of which came in very handy and were much appreciated. We...

We went with Scudamore's punting company after speaking to a lovely representative who turned out to be our guide down the river! She also suggested visiting a cafe called Fitzbillies for our coffee and bun to take with us on our tour - worth a visit. It was a lovely day for a punt on the river and our guide...

We really enjoyed the tour during the day. The guide gave us a lot of information about Cambridge and the colleges and was very patient while I had a go at punting (resulting in us going nowhere very fast!)
The ghost tour in the evening had some interesting tales, but we couldn't hear all of them as our guide was...

It seems like two completely different companies when you approach the staff for the self hire boats, and the staff for the tours. My friends and I decided to use the self hire boats for the day and when we approached the counter, it seemed like all they cared about was getting our money and moving us out of the...

Dear Lel_Abroad,
Thank you for your in-depth review. I'm delighted that you enjoyed your guided tour but very disappointed to hear that the rest of your visit was so unsatisfactory - please accept my sincerest apologies for this. We strive to make all of our customers feel welcome and to offer them the best possible experience, but it is clear...

Didn't feel brave to hire my own punt, as it was the first time.
Went on the guided tour, which was informative and very relaxing as I watched others try to make their way around the Cam.
Ben, our guide, was really good and had a good knowledge of the local surroundings.
Would definitely recommend this punting company.

A great way to see parts of Cambridge, we purchased a joint ticket for the punting and the bus tour on line from home, great value. The punting was relaxing but don't sit at the back of the punt or you will get wet when the pole comes out of the water!

We had a couple of hours to kill on a lovely sunny day in March and decided to hire a punt and go along the backs looking at the colleges. We checked out the chauffered punts which I felt were a little expensive and chose to take one out and punt ourselves for £18 an hour. Nice guys and girls...

Great fun if you don't fall in which was a close run thing. Once you get the hang of it, you are OK as long as another punt is not on a direct collision course with you - difficult to steer let alone stop. Great fun, it is a must when visiting Cambridge but I would recommend it during the...
