The vibe of Cambridge is amazing. It is a bit like a parallel universe. You need to come here to understand what a special place it is. More

Contrast this with the officious, pompous and downright rude porters at Magdalene college who should not be allowed contact with the public. They soured our view of the place. And Patisserie Valerie in the town had incredibly... More

The University of Cambridge is warm, welcoming and whimsical. On a sunny summer's day it puts any other place in the world - all right, the UK - to shame. More

I live near here and visit regularly - the whole town is a delight, steeped in history but great shops and eating places too. More

Much smaller in size than its (slightly) older rival, Cambridge as a city is dominated by the university, with most central colleges easy to see after a short stroll from Market Square. Have a look at the gargoyles on Caius college in Senate House Passage - amazing architecture. More

I'm biased - I was a student here 50 years ago. It's less an industrial town that happens to contain a university than Oxford is but, make no mistake, the Uni is a time warp situated in a city which resolutley ignores the Uni and gets on with its life despite having this tourist trap incorporated into it. We visit Cambridge every March for Science week. Most of the universities are open to the public and free to enter to attend talks, tour the labs and get hands on with all sorts of cool experiments. Great for kids and adults of all ages :-) More
