What a treasure - very glad we visited
This is an impressive small museum that I am very glad we found and visited! It is run by a very nice older gentleman who is happy to engage in a conversation or serve a tea and cake in the café, he even offered to keep an eye on our luggage as we walked there straight from the airport. There are lots of interesting exhibits thoughtfully displayed in several rooms, including vehicles and a recreated street of Guernsey during the war! Importantly, it was open in March when most of the other museums of Guernsey were closed. Thank you!

    Excellent privately run museum
Walkable from airport or a short bus/taxi ride from anywhere else on Guernsey, this lovely museum will be of interest to all ages and nationalities. The founder and owner is passionate about sharing the contents of this collection. The museum is short of around £20,000 a year, so please do go and support if you are in the area. Entrance is £6, CASH ONLY (no cards/phone payments).

    Very good. Time well spent.
Excellent display with so many pieces of the German occupation. Very thought provoking, and well laid out. There are uniforms, guns, vehicles, and several rooms of small personal items that make it so realistic. Not to be missed.

    Thought provoking visit
Fantastic insight into Guernsey under occupation. A must for anyone with an interest in WW2 history. In particular the stories of the island residents at the time added meaning to the visit. Take time to watch the video feeds of both occupation and liberation. Entry price is £6 per adult but please note…. It is cash only……

    Atmospheric glimpse of the occupation
This museum has been developed by 1 man who can be seen at the reception. The building is in the countryside and really is a must do on a trip to Guernsey. There are no attendants to answer questions but all the exhibits and artefacts are well labelled. They cover military and social events with support of a film. You can imagine what it was like in WW2 and many of the photographs will be familiar places. It may be best to visit towards the end of your stay so that you can see how the buildings have developed in the post-war years. There is a coffee shop and a few items for sale at reception. Hours of opening are intermittent so maybe phone before you visit.

    Fascinating
What a truly fascinating little museum! Packed full of artefacts from the Nazi occupation during WWII. An absolute bargain at £6 per adult. There is so much to see- we arrived at opening time and left about 15 mins before it closed. I would advise getting there early as it’s only open from 10am- 1pm. It’s very easy to get there on public transport. We had sailed into Guernsey so took the bus from St Peter-Port to Le Bourg (about a 20 min journey ) and so cheap at £1.25 each way. Not to be missed!

    Excellent A must visit
If you only have time to do one museum tour, this is the one! Excellent collection of items. Really well displayed, lots to look at including a full size fire engine! Museum is deceptively big. Nice cafe too.

    Make sure you visit here
What a superb little gem of a museum. 10 mins from the airport so if you have to leave your room early and no flight until the pm, visit here. Very reasonable prices and some excellent exhibits we spent 2 hours here and could have easily done more if our flight wasn’t due. Some of the exhibits are chilling and it really brings it home to you. Miss this and miss out

Great Museum but would benefit from an upgrade
This is a great collection of WW2 and occupation memorabilia. The man who runs the place is clearly devoted to his craft but I get the impression he would NEVER change anything about the museum, eg accepting cards rather than cash, upgrading to an audio tour, having more than four chairs to sit on for the VHS video at the beginning of the museum. Nevertheless, it is well worth an hour of your time and within walking distance of bus route and other tourist attractions.

    Strongly recommend a visit
Myself and my wife were both very impressed by the displays. We spent about 90 minutes in the museum, but didn't begin to do the place justice. Can't believe that an earlier reviewer was making such a big point over the establishment not accepting cards for payment. It's the quality of the displays that matter - this is a not for profit small museum

This museum is a gem. So many interesting exhibits and historical artefacts. It gives a real flavour of Guernsey during the occupation and the sacrifices and hardships suffered by the population. A 'must visit' if you're touring the island.

This is an incredible museum that looks small when you first enter. But it has so many rooms full of very interesting exhibits. There is even an upstairs section with so much to see.

It is worth getting the museum explorer ticket if you are planning to visit several Museums . It saves you money and you can get a 10% discount on gifts.

This museum has an introduction video at the beginning and it is well worth listening to it really sets the picture of how the people of Guernsey lived during the occupation.

There are so any exhibits to see including German weapons etc as well as items that local people needed to go about their day to day lives . For example washing machines, red cross parcels and phones that they used to hide crystal radio sets in. There are even recipe to see that people used to make meals with.

Upstairs there are street scenes tractors, fire engine and cars on display.

You certainly need time to really explore the museum. It is a good wet weather place to go to.

We really enjoyed our visit and were fascinated by all the items on show

An absolutely superb museum categorising the German Occupation of the Channel Islands with dioramas, street scenes and numerous items from that terrible period, including those who were victims of Nazi atrocities. The Curator is extremely knowledgable about this period having lived through it and will answer those curiously minded. Reasonably priced but please take cash as cards are not accepted. Well worth a visit.

What an amazing place , 3 hours was not enough time in this place. It's more than a museum. It's about the people. I felt really emotional at times reading the stories of both the occupied islanders and the occupiers.
The elderly gentleman, who has clearly spent years putting this collection and stories together, lived through the occupation and the information is first hand and such an important part of history.

The best museum we have ever visited, this is clearly one man's life work to remember the occupation of the Channel Islands which happened in living memory for many people.
The whole experience was thought provoking and emotional. Nothing was too much trouble and a whole day wouldn't be enough to take everything in.

This was an amazing place. However you need cash as they cannot accept cards or other digital forms of payment. This needs to be rectified as many people nowadays do not carry cash.

Amazing place especially when you read that it all started by a man finding bullet shells in the fields... he then carried on collecting and the result creates the most interesting place to visit. Most moving stories to read about.
