When we decided to go, we didn't know what to expect and got a wonderful surprise. The difference here was that the rooms were all bare of any antiques and / or artifacts so we were left to see the original design and construction and, "surprise, surprise", a Tudor House with "privvies"! Moving from room to room and finding little... More

Lovely tudor building with various off shoots on each floor. These have been added at various stages of its life. Very windy building which makes you wonder how the family kept warm when it was first built. The Chapel is lovely and is still in use for sunday services. The shop is much better than the previous shop.

National Trust Property near Congleton in Cheshire. An impressive black and white moated structure. Entering the property over the bridge takes you into the inner court yard, the uneven timber structure gives the impression this range of buildings should not be standing. Plenty to see, but would advice flat shoes be worn as the floors are uneven in places. There... More

After a second visit to this place I can guarantee fascination is in store for any visitor. You get a real sense of how the house has been built. You are carried back in time as you enter the courtyard and see the fantastic windows and slightly wonky timbers and frames. The windows are lovely. There is a moat all... More

The first view of this is quite something. A National Trust property that is very interesting. Good for families as there is a room with topical activities to keep the children occupied. Lovely atmosphere inside. One room is a bit of an illusion as everything slopes except for the mantel piece and window ledge, can actually make you feel a... More

This property really shouldn't be standing, it is like taking a step back to Tudor times. Make sure you were flat shoes the floors of the house are very uneven. The food as usual at a National Trust house is delicious and the staff are always really lovely.

As National Trust members we try and stop off at places en route. This is a great place to visit for an hour or two. Fascinating house with parts of the building leaning precariously! Pleasant stroll around the small grounds where you can look out for ducklings and carp in the small moat. Amazing.

What a gem. As usual the National Trust have got things sussed, friendly people, helpful guides, and room for an active 2 year old to explore and play. We followed the I spy trail, and experienced optical illusions, and rolled down a hill.(That's all of us not just the two year old). The food was excellent, locally sourced and tweaked... More

The house is wonderful, and the guide was very informative. We never been anywhere like this half-timbered grand Tudor farmhouse. The grounds are small but pleasant and the tearoom made a very nice chocolate slice. The gift shop is well stocked. Highly recommended.
