The museum is to close for 6 months from Sept this year due to its lottery funded modernisation. I think it is a fantastic place to visit for many reasons. The history of telegraphy might sound a bit dry to some but the sheer volume of artefacts, photography and the social history of the people who worked here from1870s onwards... More

I went to this Museum with my family without really knowing what to expect. From an adult point of view I found it interesting. They manage to encapsulate the subject area quite well in a very short space of time and with minimum equipment. They try very hard with the children but the facilities aren’t up to much. The telegraphy... More

We visited porthcurno Telegraph Museum in March 2013. Full of interest information and facts. There is a lot to see and some interactive activities. We found the car park a bit on the pricey side. In fact there was a public car park beside the Museum one - both charging about the same price. The car park was almost empty... More

My family and I visited the museum last Sunday and had a great time. Even our 4 year old loved looking all the old telegraph equipment. Great fun having a go at sending a morse code message. If you gift aid your ticket you can re visit any time until August. Well worth a visit and there is a wonderful... More

I dragged my 6 year old son round here with a couple of friends, more out of a sense of parental duty to deliver learning in spite of my self rather than any great desire to visit! We've all looked back at our parent's style and thought "must drag them to a museum- that's responsible and adult" - this time... More

Porthurcno Telegraph Museum was a nice and interesting place which took us back to the 19th and early 20th century. I think people who are interested in history and how things developed will find it fascinating. I am not a massive fan of history, but I enjoyed it and I think it was a nice change from walking along the... More

This museum is quite expensive for what it is and isn't easy to get to (a long hilly walk up, I'm afraid!) but there is ample car parking down below (charging is a bit confusing). The museum and information in the tunnels section is very good. Lots of exhibits featuring real working equipment. We missed the talk on the equipment... More

This is a fascinating, if slightly hotch-potch museum which offers a unique insight into the age of the telegraph. The £7.20 admission charge might seem steep, but I think that it is worthwhile. There is no apparent logic to the placing of some of the exhibits. There are two main "buildings" - the main telegraph building Eastern House (the large... More

A great place for a visit if you are at all interested in the way human beings keep in contact with one another. The only downside is that it is not all that easy to reach, with many narrow and twisty lanes to negotiate, but it is well worth the effort. Porthcurno used to be one of the main and... More
